Like many non-profit organizations, the Moncton Lions Club finds itself struggling and its Mark Avenue building is in danger of closing.
Activities with up to 50 people are now allowed indoors but the facility has a capacity for about one thousand people.
Marketing and Comunications chair Chris Glidden says the bills were already adding up and then along came the pandemic.
“Since March 16, we’ve been closed at the Lions Club. We haven’t been able to run events or anything like that. So basically the bills have mounted up and they’ve gotten so high they are pretty daunting,” he says.
Glidden says there are upgrades the building will need in order to follow public health guidelines.
The Mark Avenue building typically hosts sporting events, many non-profit related activities and is also a wedding venue.
Donations are being sought through a Go Fund Me page to help support the Moncton Lions Club.
