Out-of-Province Residents Looking For Homes In Greater Moncton

A local realtor says there is much demand for homes in Greater Moncton, especially from residents living outside the province.

Owner of Re/Max Avante Roger Leblanc says he has four or five files from Ontario residents who are currently looking.

He adds three of them have never been here before.

“People want to come from Ontario to retire in Moncton. Some just want to move to Moncton because we are central, because of our airport, especially our economy. The cost of living compared to Toronto is quite a bit different,” Leblanc says.

He says Greater Moncton appeals to them because it is a different way of living,” “People are still looking for cities where they can enjoy more of the sunshine and the beaches. They want to be ten minutes from everything instead of staying an hour and a half on the 401 in Toronto.”

Leblanc says money also goes a lot further in New Brunswick, “If you own a home in Toronto for twenty years , you are going to make a million plus in profit tax free. You can buy a home here for $500, 000 that is bigger than the one you made a million on.”

He adds, the fact that we have had a lower number of COVID-19 cases has made the province even more attractive.
