Masks are now required to be worn by all passengers on Codiac Transpo as well as public transit in Fredericton and Saint John.
The safety measure is to allow for increased seating on buses which will now operate at half capacity or between 17 and 20 passengers.
The province says that if riders comply with the regulations they’ll be able to increase service closer to pre-pandemic levels.
Children under two and those with medical conditions are exempt from wearing masks.
