Temperature Records Smashed In The Province

It was another scorcher yesterday weatherwise, but we didn’t break any records in Moncton.

That heat warning remains in effect.

On Friday, Moncton recorded an all-time high for June at 35.6 degrees.

The previous high for June in Moncton was 34.4 degrees back in 1944.

Fredericton, Miramichi and Bouctouche also recorded new monthly highs for June on Friday.

Kouchibouguac recorded its hottest temperature ever at 37.3 degrees.

Meantime, a reminder about the fire ban across the province.

The hot weather means drier conditions, and a higher risk of forest fires.

Firefighters in the region responded to a few complaints over the weekend of residents having backyard fires..

A warning as well, to ensure you discard of cigarettes properly.

They can quickly start a fire in a dry grassy area if tossed from a moving car or even if you are walking.

The New Brunswick Forest fire watch is updated everyday at 2pm.
