Summer Officially Arrives In NB

Summer officially arrives in New Brunswick at 6:44 Saturday night.

Today marks the longest day of the year at 15 hours and 46 minutes and the days slowly begin getting shorter again from here.

Weather Network meteorologist Doug Gilham says this summer will likely be warmer and drier than normal.

While dry periods are common, Gilham notes any weather system that taps into tropical moisture can bring lots of rain in a short time.

Gilham expects we’ll see a lot of sunshine and you’ll likely have to water the lawn and garden on occasion.

Following this week’s scorcher, Gilham believes more hot stretches of weather are coming but it will be broken up by cooler periods.
