U de M Students Face Tuition Hikes

Tuition fees for New Brunswick students at the Université de Moncton will be increasing by two percent next year.

Full-time Canadian and international students will face an eight percent hike.

“Despite the increase, our tuition fees are still lower than those of New Brunswick’s three public Anglophone universities,” says Chancellor Jacques Paul Couturier.

Due to the pandemic, the Board of Governors has decided to delay its budget until September and says a significant financial challenge is expected in the coming years.

Couturier says the university may have to make some hard choices without a major increase in funding from the provincial government.
