UPDATE: Woman Attacked And Killed By Her Dog

Police in Nova Scotia say a woman has died after being attacked by her own dog.

Officers were called to the scene in Middle Musquodoboit just after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

RCMP say the woman, who lived in the area, was walking her dog when it attacked her.

“The dog was described as a large pit bull. The dog ran away prior to police arrival,” said the RCMP in a news release.

Mounties issued a warning on Twitter just before 9 a.m. It said the dog was considered dangerous and urged people to stay indoors.

Police said the dog was struck and killed by a passing motorist around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“We can not provide any further information on the woman at this time because family has not been notified,” said police.
