ER At Campbellton Regional Hospital Temporarily Closed

The emergency department at Campbellton Regional Hospital has closed temporarily, in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It is also cancelling non urgent or elective care services.

This closure is for a 24 hour period.

Vitalité Health Network CEO and President Gilles Lanteigne says they must do everything to limit the risk of spread.

“We cannot let our guard down. The third case being announced today is proof of that. We must remain vigilant and work together to keep ourselves and others safe. Our battle is not over,” Lanteigne says.

This comes after a third active case of COVID-19 was reported by Public Health and the province yesterday.

Premier Blaine Higgs says “This is a situation where a medical professional, who travelled to Quebec for personal reasons, was not forthcoming about their reasons for travel upon returning to New Brunswick and they did not self-isolate as a result,” he says.

The medical professional, between 50 and 59 years old, works at the Campbellton Hospital and contact tracing is underway.
