Pandemic Impacts Greater Moncton Real Estate Market

Home sales and new listings in Greater Moncton saw large declines in April as pandemic protocols were implemented.

The Greater Moncton Realtors group says 139 units were sold last month which was a drop of 47 percent year-over-year.

New listings were down by almost 62 percent and supply of homes on the market is currently trending at the lowest level in 15 years.

President Parise Cormier says the coronavirus crisis caused buyers and sellers to retreat to the sidelines.

The average sale price of a home in April did jump by about 7 percent over last year.

The overall benchmark price for a home in April was almost $198,000 – an increase of about 9 percent compared to 2019.
