Fairies Surprise Families In Greater Moncton

A number of children in Greater Moncton have been receiving surprises on the doorsteps.

About two weeks ago, Lindsay O’Blenis helped create the ‘Doorstep Fairy’ project to help spread kindness to local children during this challenging time.

She says they have been connecting residents wanting to give back with families who want to surprise their kids.

“Anyone can be a fairy. We have a lot of people that don’t want anything in return they just really like the idea of paying it forward and a lot do it for the reward of seeing the pictures of all the happy kids,” says O’Blenis.

O’Blenis says there are currently over 100 fairies delivering to areas including Shediac, Memramcook and Hillsborough.

She says since the start of the project, surprise gifts have been left on the doorstep of over 250 homes around Greater Moncton.

“It’s a great way to get out and have a little excitement without breaking any of the social distance guidelines.

O’Blenis says they currently have sister groups in Bathurst and Saint John and hopes the initiative will spread across the country.

She says despite some concerns raised in other province around similar projects, they are very vigilant about handling personal information like home addresses.
