Liberal Candidate For St. Croix By-Election Steps Down

The Liberal candidate for a by-election in the riding of St. Croix, has stepped back.

Liberal Leader Kevin Vickers says he was advised by Karen Ludwig this week, she has accepted a senior position with Yorkville University.

Vickers says they are disappointed with losing her as a candidate, but they understand it was not an easy decision.

The St.Croix and Shediac Bay-by-elections were postponed due to COVID-19.

“Although it was anticipated that the St. Croix by-election would be held this spring, like many other activities, the pandemic has caused it to be put on hold. It is hard to ask someone to put their life on hold indefinitely and so Karen’s decision to accept this exciting career opportunity is understandable,” Vickers says.

The Liberal Leader is once again urging Premier Higgs to call the by-elections before the fall sitting of the New Brunswick Legislature.
