As of Wednesday, all parking meters in downtown Moncton and all City owned parking lots will resume regular operations.
Last month, the city decided to offer free parking in the downtown in an effort to offer some financial relief for residents.
City manager, Marc Landry says as the province begins to loosen it’s COVID-19 restrictions, they expect more downtown traffic.
City engineer Jack MacDoanld says if parking continued to be free, it is likely that spaces would be occupied on a longer-term basis with reduced turnover.
He says Fredericton and Saint John have also recently started charging again at downtown parking meters and parking lots.
All parking meters in proximity to both hospitals, however, will continue to be provided free of charge from 6pm to 7:45am on weekdays.
