Canadian Athlete Honours Shooting Victim

A Canadian hockey legend is sending personal protective equipment to the province of Nova Scotia.

Hayley Wickenheiser says she and the Conquer COVID-19 team were moved by the story of Kristen Beaton.

Beaton was a nurse who was shot and killed, along with her unborn child, when a gunman opened fire and killed 22 people last weekend.

Conquer COVID-19 is comprised of volunteers working together to ensure Canadian frontline workers have access to the equipment necessary for protecting themselves and treating patients.

The former athlete says they are sending PPE to Nova Scotia in honour of Beaton and all front line workers.

Hi Nick. I want you to know our @conquercovid19 team heard you a few days ago, as well as just now on @CBCTheNational. We are sending PPE to NS in honour of your wife Kristen and all front line workers. @VancityReynolds and I spoke about her yesterday.Thinking of you and your son https://t.co/u8DSEZapnI
