New Brunswick reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 98.
The three new cases are all in the Fredericton region. One person is in their 20s, one is in their 30s, and one is in their 50s.
Of the 98 cases, 57 are travel-related, 31 are close contacts of confirmed cases, and four cases are from community transmission. Six cases remain under investigation.
“We are at the point where we are going to see more community transmission,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health, in a statement Saturday.
“We are adapting daily to this changing health-care crisis. But the one thing that has not changed is the importance of people staying home.”
Of the six people who have been hospitalized, four patients remain in hospital, with one in the intensive care unit.
A total of 28 patients — or 29 per cent of cases — have recovered to date.
