City Of Moncton Considers Closing Skate Park

Fire Chief Conrad Landry provided an update to Moncton city councilors on the Emergency Operations Centre.

Landry says they are communicating with different organizations and various levels of government daily to ensure the city is on top of the situation as much as possible.

He says they are also continuing to focus on issues surrounding playgrounds and public transportation.

Councilor Greg Turner says he’s been receiving messages about the skate park on Assumption boulevard, given the warmer weather ahead.

“I don’t see that it’s nay different than a playground and that we should take a stronger look at closing the park for the immediate future,” he says.

General Manager of Recreation, Catherine Dallaire says they will be discussing options in the event they do decide to restrict access to the park.

“If we do close it and put up signs that it’s closed, it may not necessarily keep that many people away,” says Dallaire.
