The number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb in New Brunswick.
Public health says 7 new cases have been confirmed for a total of 33.
The new cases are:
- An individual aged 20-30, in Zone 1 (southeast), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 60-70, in Zone 1 (southeast), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 60-70, in Zone 1 (southeast), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 30-40, in Zone 2 (south), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 50-60, in Zone 3 (central west), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 60-70, in Zone 3 (central west), whose case is travel-related.
- An individual aged 60-70, in Zone 3 (central west), whose case is travel-related.
In addition, chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says Prince Edward Island has a new COVID-19 case with a New Brunswick connection.
The individual landed at the Greater Moncton Airport on Air Transat flight #2653 from Punta Cana on March 18.
Dr. Russell adds everyone on that flight should self-isolate.
New Brunswick does not yet have any cases of community transmission and all cases to date have been travel-related.
Dr. Russell emphasized the rapidly changing nature and course of the pandemic, and said New Brunswick’s public health strategies are shifting to meet this challenge.
“By practicing physical distancing, we are depriving the virus of the opportunity to spread more widely,” Russell said. “By doing this, we are improving our chances of lessening the severity of this outbreak.”
