Seniors Express Mixed Feelings Over COVID-19

Many seniors are feeling the effects of COVID-19.

They are in a high risk category and social distancing, is especially important.

Executive Director for the Coalition for Seniors Cecile Cassista says one of their big concerns is social time, “They’re not able to mingle down in the common room and have their coffee breaks together. Some of them are feeling frustrated.”

For those living on their own, there are feelings of loneliness, if they don’t have family living in the area.

Cassista says there are organizations who have said they can assist if there are seniors in need of groceries, including the Riverview Lions Club and the Seniors Round Table.

Others she has spoken to, say they are quite content, to sit in their suite, “They tell me, I’ve been through worse than this,” Cassista says.
