YMCA Launches ‘Building What Matters’ Fundraising Campaign

The Greater Moncton YMCA has publicly launched it’s fundraising campaign for the new North end Y.

After federal, provincial and municipal contributions, the YMCA was tasked in raising the remaining 3 million dollars of the 17 million dollar project.

Today, Chair of the ‘Building What Matters‘ campaign, Phyllis Bannister announced they’ve already raised 2.4 million, thanks to major corporate and private donations.

They’re now seeking donations from the community to raise the last 600 thousand through fundraisers, including a community rally.

She says it will be a sort of information session for residents and that a number of YMCA staff will be putting on various activities.

YMCA CEO Zane Korytko says they’ll go over the construction timeline as well as the different programs that will be offered at the new facility.

“And at the same time, it’s going to get them excited about this project that has been 18 years in the works,” he says.

They’ll be releasing more details closer to the event, that will be held at one of the north end schools on the afternoon of March 29th.
