Homeless Shelter Executive Director Apologizes And Offers Fee Clarification

The Executive Director of the House of Nazareth has offered an apology and fee clarification to those staying at the homeless shelter.

A video of Jean Dube speaking to those staying at the Albert Street location was posted to Facebook over the weekend.

Word that the shelter will be charging up to $300 to those staying there, spread quickly.

He says for most it will amount to around five dollars a day, “For food, clothing, beds, showers, less than five dollars a day. So it’s not $300 a month, it’s less than five dollars a day for most of you. We’re not here to gauge you, we’re just trying to survive. We’re trying to do it with all of you. We want to make sure you feel safe where you are.”

He re-emphasized it will be on a case by case basis, and that they aren’t going to kick anyone out.

“It was not explained right, and I should come down here to explain it, and I never got here. I apologize for that. I should have been here to explain it to you. You know me, I am approachable, I am here, I answer my phone and I am on site. I am here to help you,” Dube says.

More clarification, along with a fee structure is expected to come this week.
