New Brunswick’s premier offering a statement on the COVID-19 outbreak.
Blaine Higgs notes there are no confirmed cases in the province but says they can’t be complacent and should take precautions to lower the risk for everyone.
With so many people travelling during the March break, Higgs suggests people stay up to date with travel notices posted by the federal government.
Anyone returning home to New Brunswick should monitor themselves and their loved ones for symptoms like a fever, cough and difficulty breathing.
The premier suggests simple actions to reduce the spread of any type of communicable disease like washing your hands regularly, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and staying home when you are sick.
Higgs says government officials are conducting emergency planning with first responders, communities and individual New Brunswickers.
The premier holds daily briefings with Public Health and Emergency Measures Organization leaders to discuss updates recognizing this disease knows no borders.
