There will be an Art Battle tonight at McKenzie College.
Lead Instructor for the Graphics Design Program Faron Dawe says with only a short time to work, creations emerge right before your eyes.
“Artists who have been pre-selected through various rounds, will start a piece of art or painting from scratch. They have 20 minutes to present something at the end of that round. Spectators have the opportunity to vote on their favourite.”
Dawe says this is a great opportunity to show off their new campus on St. George Boulevard and also to expose students and the public to new artistic styles.
“This event, we felt it was a great way to invite the public in and also for our students to see what some of the artists on our region are doing, what kind of styles they have and how they approach a time limit,” Dawe says.
A silent auction will be held afterwards, with an opportunity to purchase the artwork.
“Some artists will plan what they are going to create, while others wait until the buzzer goes off, so every piece is going to be very different in terms of subject matter and the sense of bringing their own style. Normally they use acrylic paint,” Dawe says.
Doors open for Art Battle at 7:30 tonight at McKenzie College on St. George Boulevard. Everyone is welcome.
