Today is 20K Sock Day, an initiative to get 20 thousand socks donated to shelters across Canada.
Mike Hayes lead the collection in Greater Moncton says he’s beat last year’s number, collecting just over 5 thousand pairs.
Hayes has been collecting since November and bringing them to local shelters to help those in need stay warm.
He says shelters are always in need of things like mittens, socks and hats, especially during colder months.
Just over 4 thousand pairs were also collected in the Fredericton area and a additional thousand pairs were collected in P-E-I.
A total of 67,215 pairs were collected across Canada.
