Over 100 students from five area High Schools will head to City Hall today, for this year’s Youthfest.
They’ll participate in a mock election for the position of Mayor, followed by a town hall meeting where they will debate lowering the voting age to 16.
“Encouraging youth to be engaged in our community has always been a passion of mine. YouthFest is an excellent way for them to share ideas and give feedback to City staff and Council directly. It also gives us a chance to create that open dialogue with youth and really inspires them to step up and be involved,” says Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in presentations on emergency measures, City Sketch simulators, and how young people can have a say in their communities.
