Performers To Follow The Yellow Brick Road At Capitol Theatre

Rehearsals are kicking into high gear for the Capitol Theatre and Tutta Musica’s production of The Wizard of Oz.

Casting began back in September, and in a couple of weeks, crowds will flock to the Theatre for one of 10 shows, seven of them evening performances and the other three are matinees..

Director Marshall Button says this is their fifth musical performance with Tutta Musica. It is expected the shows will be sold out once again, “The years we have been doing these, we have realised that there is a certain desire to have something very well done and entertaining but also suitable for an entire family. I think the Wizard of Oz fits all of those. Great music and a classic story.”

Six Toronto-based professional theatre performers will join a group of local cast members, as they follow the yellow brick road.

“We do six days a week for rehearsals, for a two to three week period, eight hours a day,” Button says.

Tickets for the Wizard of Oz, that runs February 22nd to March 1st, are on sale now.

Button says, “We’re ready to make it all together into a casserole of great musical theatre.”
