ATV Crash Victim Identified

The victim of a weekend all-terrain vehicle crash on the Kennebecasis River has been identified.

Pat Valardo co-owned Buccaneer’s Pub and Eatery in west Saint John with his brother.

The 58-year-old was one of two people on an ATV which fell through the ice near Clifton Royal late Saturday night.

One of the men managed to climb out of the water and was treated for hypothermia.

Valardo was pulled from the water by firefighters and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“In his too brief 58 years of life, Pat touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known him,” read his obituary.

Valardo’s funeral will take place on Thursday.
