Two packages containing contraband were seized at Dorchester Penitentiary this week.
On Tuesday, prison staff confiscated 197 nicotine patches, an estimated value of around 24-thousand dollars.
This is the second time this month staff at the medium security unit have seized unauthorized nicotine patches. 21 patches were confiscated on January 2nd.
The Correctional Service of Canada is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions by setting up a telephone tip line for all federal institutions.
CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
