Security Incident At Greater Moncton Airport Delays Departures

A security incident at the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport caused delays for departing passengers last night.

Airport spokesperson Julie Pondant says they called 911 at around 5:30.

RCMP say they were contacted for what was believed to be a weapon, but when officers arrived, they confirmed it was a fake.

Pondant says the incident caused slight delays with the check in and security screening operations for passengers for over an hour, then operations returned to normal.
