Dieppe Enjoys Great Construction Year

The City of Dieppe had a good year in 2019.

Residents will see the tax rate remain the same for the third year in a row but there will be modest increases for water and sewer bills.

Mayor Yvon Lapierre says Dieppe has the second lowest tax rate of the eight cities in New Brunswick.

He notes how construction activity was booming and that worked out well at budget time.

“We did have an excellent year (in 2019) – in terms of construction permits – in excess of $97 million. So it’s kind of a record year for us,” the mayor says.

The new $31-million UNIplex is one of Dieppe’s largest construction projects.

Set to open next fall, the complex will feature two ice rinks along with community-based components such as a greenhouse, a kitchen, multi-purpose rooms and a gym.
