Fees Waives For Volunteer Firefighter Licence Plates

The government of New Brunswick has eliminated fees for licence plates for volunteer firefighters

A release says the change will be effective as of January 2nd 2020.

Public Safety Minister, Carl Urquhart, says it’s a small way to recognize the contributions firemen make to the vitality of their communities.

Firefighter plates were introduced in 2001 at the request of the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs.

The province currently issues an average of 500 volunteer firefighters plates a year at $50 a plate.

Qualifying firefighters who wish to have the plate fee waived will be required to provide proof that they are a volunteer in good standing.
