Write To The Troops This Holiday Season

When you’re writing your wish list for Santa this year, why not also pen something for a Canadian Troop?

Young and old are being encouraged to write letters and holiday card for those serving overseas.

Warrant Officer, Robert Morgan is currently deployed in Latvia and says he always enjoys receiving letters from home.

“It’s really nice to hear from people back at home and know that they’re thinking of us here and they support what we’re doing,” Officer Morgan says.

He says while you can write to the Armed Forces all year-round, mail is especially appreciated during the holidays.

“Being away from home can be hard. It’s hard any time of the year but especially at Christmas time, people tend to think about what their families are doing at home,” he says.

Officer Morgan says soldiers always look forward to correspondence, particularly those who are away from their families for the first time.

“For a lot of people, especially our younger guys who haven’t been away on deployment before, it can be a bit of a culture shock,” he says.

Schools often have students take part in the program every year.

Officer Morgan says it reminds many troops of their own kids and grand-kids back home.

However, the program is open to all ages. For more information on how to get involved, click here.
