Number Of Turkeys Up Slightly For 22nd Annual Turkey Drive

The 22nd annual Sue Stultz and Moncton Firefighters Turkey Drive is officially underway.

Their goal is up slightly this year with a need for 4175 donated turkeys.

Founder Sue Stultz will spend much of her time over the next week down back at the St. George fire station where the birds are dropped off, “I love to see the children come and our seniors come. They are the ones who have set the example for these young ones that are coming in with their turkeys and they continue to do it every year. The parents and grandparents of these children teach them that it is good to give, instead of receive.”

In 1997, the first year of the turkey drive, Stultz collected 800 turkeys, and the demand grows each year.

“Every year when we at the fire hall, we have people that are giving back that have received a turkey in previous years,” Stultz says.

Turkey donations can be dropped off from now until December 6th.
