CFIA Warns Canadians of E. Coli Risk

The CFIA advises Canadians not to buy or consume romaine lettuce, and products containing romaine lettuce harvested in the Salinas growing region of California.

An E. coli outbreak has resulted in multiple illnesses in the United States and one isolated illness in Canada.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring, along with Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

An investigation into the source of the lettuce consumed by the affected person in Canada is still underway.
