Over 100,000 Expected To Welcome Santa To Greater Moncton

It’s the day families have been waiting for, Santa Claus is coming to town.

Over 100, 000 spectators line Main Street in downtown Moncton each year to catch a glimpse of the floats and finally the main attraction, Santa Claus.

This year’s Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus parade gets underway at 5pm at the corner of Cameron and Main Street and makes its way to Dieppe at the corner of Champlain and Paul Street.

Parade President Robert Gallant says Santa’s helpers will be collecting donations along the route,”As usual, there are always people lined up along the sides of the road. Bring some non perishable food items, you can give them to those who are collecting as they are doing their food drive. They are also collecting money as well, all of that goes to support our local food banks. Don’t forget Canada Post will be back again this year. They’ll be walking the route and collecting letters along the way,” Gallant says.

In front of Moncton City Hall, there will be a tree lighting as the parade is making its way there. An Open House will be held inside, with hot chocolate and other goodies.

The ice also officially goes in at the Ian Fowler oval on parade day, if you like to lace up your skates prior to the parade.

It is also a busy shopping weekend in Greater Moncton, with people coming from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and all across New Brunswick.
