A mixture of weather is in the forecast over the next couple of days.
We are currently under a special weather statement for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Stephen Hatt tells us what we can expect in the Moncton area, “We’re expecting snow to begin in the Moncton mid-evening and then pickup in intensity by midnight. Then we are expecting a changeover to ice pellets and freezing rain overnight and then rain tomorrow. By tomorrow night, it’ll change back to snow.”
Total snowfall amounts in Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick are expected to be between five and ten centimetres.
If you are planning to travel to the northern or northeastern part of the province, be prepared for snowy conditions or freezing rain. Those areas are under either snowfall or winter storm warnings, and could see anywhere between 15 and 40 centimetres of snow.
Areas including Sussex, St. Stephen and the Kennebecasis Valley are under freezing rain warnings.
Hatt says the only place that is really being spared, is Grand Manan, where just rain is forecast.
Environment Canada says road conditions are expected to deteriorate as this system rolls through.
