There could be some spooky weather coming to New Brunswick just in time for the trick-or-treaters to head out on Halloween.
Environment Canada is tracking a fall storm packing heavy rain and strong winds.
Meteorologist Roberta McArthur said the rain is expected to reach southern parts of the province on Thursday morning.
“It should be fairly light in terms of intensity and not pick up until really the late evening hours on Thursday and into Friday afternoon,” said McArthur.
Between 40 and 60 millimetres of rain could fall in southern New Brunswick by the time it ends Friday afternoon, McArthur said, which could lead to localized flooding.
“If there’s any clogged drains due to the leaves not being picked up, that could be an issue, especially if the rain does fall in a quick amount of time,” she said.

McArthur said strong southwest winds will likely develop Friday morning, with gusts up to 90 km/h possible along the Bay of Fundy.
Those southwest winds will also usher in some warmer air, with highs around the mid-teens both Thursday and Friday.
But there is a silver lining — McArthur said we should not see any snow in southern New Brunswick.
“The only area that might see potential snow may be extreme northwestern New Brunswick,” she said. “Initially as the rain comes in, the temperatures might be hovering around 0°C.”
