Unique Fundraiser Aims To Break World Record

A fundraiser to support the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre aims to break a Guinness World Record.

Presenting sponsor Medavie has kicked off the campaign with a $20,000 donation.

Medavie CEO Bernard Lord says the goal is to break the record for the longest line of banknotes.

“We want to raise over $200,000 with $5 bills… that means we need 40,000 $5 bills. And for us to get the record, they must all be lined up,” Lord says.

Lord adds a team will line up the $5 bills at the Avenir Centre on December 11th and judges will be present from Guinness World Records.

With a newly opened facility in Shediac, Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre provides counselling and support for victims of family violence and sexual assault.

Over the past two years, a regional campaign raised $4.2 million to build a full-service, 24/7 facility which covers Southeast New Brunswick.

Centre CEO Kristal LeBlanc says the organization now needs to support the services offered in order to meet the demand a bit better, to be able to respond to people more quickly and to not have a wait list.
