An inmate has died while in custody at the federal prison in Renous.
Officials at the Atlantic Institution say a 22-year-old offender had been serving a three year sentence for robbery since December 2016.
The death occurred last Friday (September 20) but details were released on Wednesday.
Police and the coroner have been notified.
Correctional Service Canada says the circumstances surrounding the death will be reviewed.
The man’s name has not been released.
