Auditions will be get underway next month for another musical production to be performed at the Capitol Theatre.
Performances of the Wizard of Oz will be held on February 22nd to March 1st next year.
Director Marshall Button says there will be up to 40 cast on stage at once.
“It’s an odd sort of show, where there are a lot of non-singing roles for a musical Normally, we need people who will sing in the ensemble, but there are as many speaking parts, and non singing roles, as there are singing roles, Button says.
Button says they’ll be heading to Toronto next month with auditions on October 8th.
This will be the fifth professional musical theatre production for partners Tutta Musica and the Capitol Theatre.
“If you’ve ever thought about being in a musical and have a bit of experience and some desire to be a part of it, just come out and we will be holding out local auditions from November 2-4 in Moncton. There are roles for all ages in terms of how we are putting this together. ”
Past performances include The Sound of Music, Oliver! and Mary Poppins.
Button is once again hoping for a sold out run for the production of The Wizard of Oz.
Interested performers (actors, singers and dancers) must fill out an audition form before October 21st. Selected candidates will be contacted with further information. Local performers who have auditioned for the producers in the past two years will not be required to audition again, but must signal their interest to participate by filling out the form.
