Apple Picking Season Is Underway

Warmer weather over the weekend, helped inspire crowds to head out to do some apple picking.

Belliveau Orchards was expected to open over the Labour Day weekend, but Dorian put a damper on that.

There were several downed trees, and fallen apples.

Belliveau Orchards Spokesperson Serge Leblanc says depending on the weather, there are still several weekends left to get your apples, “For the most part, we’ll go until Thanksgiving weekend. That is usually a big busy weekend. From that point on, it is usually week to week, depending on the weather and what is left on the trees.”

Last year, with the milder weather, allowed the Orchard to stay open into November.

According to the Belliveau Orchards Facebook page, they have the following varieties available, Sunrise, Melba, Ginger Gold, Jersey Mac, Paula Red and Gravenstein.

Leblanc says they were able to salvage a lot of the fallen apples and have made storm cider, which is being sold while supplies last.
