Day 12 on The Campaign Trail

On the campaign trail, Andrew Scheer promises to clear the backlog of veterans waiting for benefits if he’s elected.

The Conservative Leader says it’s one of a number of changes he will mandate to services for veterans.

“We’re also going to fix Justin Trudeau’s failure to create a reliable, dependable pension system for veterans,” Scheer says. “The Trudeau Liberals created a messy system that short-changes some of our most severely disabled veterans by as much as $300,000.”

Elsewhere on day 12 of the election campaign, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is promising to double funding to help communities recover from natural disasters.

He says the NDP will add $2.5 billion to an existing fund “to make sure cities have the ability to put in place changes in their infrastructure to avoid damages.”

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says is his party is re-elected, they will cut cell phone bills by 25 per cent, and raise the basic personal income tax deduction to $15, 000.
