Several tributes by musical artists will be performed tonight, as we celebrate the third annual Becca Schofield Day of Kindness.
It is named after a teenage girl who while battling terminal cancer, inspired people around the world to be kind and good to each other.
Riverview Arts Centre Executive Director Julie Hopkins felt this was something that needed to be celebrated..”This message is so amazing about spreading kindness and being kind to others. But just that authenticity of the family to share their lives with us is just something to be admired and shared and celebrated.”
Tickets to the performances tonight are free, but donations are being accepted at the door to go to the Rebecca Schofield Kindness Foundation.
Becca’s mom Anne Schofield says her daughter would be so proud if she were with us today. “She always said your problem is that you don’t dream big enough. She would be very proud that her little wish of family and friends to do an act of kindness for one day has grown to this. There would be pride, there would be joy, and I could just see a big smile on her face. At the end of the day, her face hurt from smiling too much. So I think that is how she would feel. Mine is going to hurt too, from smiling too much.”
“This day gives us the opportunity to thank the community for everything they have done for us, and for Becca, ” Schofield says.
