CN Donates Hundreds Of Trees To Celebrate 100th Anniversary

CN is celebrating its 100 year anniversary by planting 100 trees in a number of partner areas.

Mayor John Highman says they were glad to be chosen as one of the partner areas to receive the so called “legacy forest”.

“The idea, I believe, is that they’re hoping to create a future legacy for people to look back on CN for another hundred years,” Highman says.

He says they are still trying to determine which species would be more beneficial to the town.

“Do we stick with just an Acadian forest that’s natural here or should we be planting based upon the kinds of benefits they provide in certain areas. Some are better at air quality management, some of them are better at water retention assistance, some are better for certain bird species,” says Highman.

Due to dropping temperatures, Highman says they may only be able to plant a small portion of the trees this fall.

The rest will have to wait until the spring.
