Local football organizations are assisting with the upcoming Touchdown Atlantic event to be played at Medavie Blue Cross Stadium on Sunday.
Head Coach for the Moncton Mustangs Jason Terris says he is thrilled they were asked to help with planning in the Punt, Pass and Kick competition that is being held right across Atlantic Canada. They also helped to organize the pre-game activities, “Growing up playing football my whole life, I always wanted to be involved in the CFL in some way. I had an opportunity to try out, but at that time it just didn’t work out for me. Fast forward a dozen years and getting invited to help out with the CFL game and Touchdown Atlantic, it’s kind of like a dream come true for me.”
When Terris was younger and playing the game, he always looked up to the players above him, “In high school , I looked at what are College football players doing, what are NCAA players doing, what are Canadian football players doing and I always aspired to that level. I think that is what helped me to achieve excellence.” He hopes young football enthusiasts will be inspired with what they see on the field.
Terris says seeing CFL players also helps inspire youth who have never picked up a pigskin before, “To have kids, who maybe aren’t involved in football, come to the game and see the Canadian Football League for the first time. I hope this inspires boys and girls to put on a football helmet and get on that field, and see what it really means to be a part of a football family.”
The game between the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes will kick off at one o’clock on August 25th.
