Thanks to some investment funding, an app created in Moncton to help people save money will be expanding.
QUBER received $450,000 through the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and from a number of so-called “angel” investors.
Co-founder Jen Leger says they will be using the money for things like marketing.
She says they will also be using the funds to add new features and money-saving challenges to the app.
Some of the features users enjoy the most are the QUBER vault and some of the challengers like ‘no-spend days’.
“The vault is where your money is held while you’re saving for your goals. It protects you from spending money on impulse, and helps your savings grow. Your money is easily accessible when you need it.”
The app supports the majority of financial institutions and Leger hopes to collaborate closer with banks.
She says they’d like to have their software incorporated directly into banking apps.
“We’re talking to two financial institutions so we’re hoping to turn at least one of them into a customer by the end of year,” says Leger.
QUBER currently has about 6,000 users, the majority of which are in Eastern Canada, and they hope to bring their service to other parts of the country.
