Federal Government Renews Gas Tax Fund

The Trudeau Government has announced $22.5 million for infrastructure projects through the federal Gas Tax Fund has been delivered to New Brunswick.

This is the first of two such payments this year.

The federal infrastructure minister Francois-Philippe Champagne was in Moncton on Tuesday and was joined by mayor Dawn Arnold.

The City of Moncton will receive $4.9 million this year and an additional $5.1 million through the top-up.

The funding will be used to upgrade storm sewers and retention ponds throughout the city designed to prevent flooding during extreme weather.
