14th Edition Of The Atlantic Dance Festival

Dance enthusiasts will get to take part in a number of events over the next 10 days.

The 14th edition of the Atlantic Dance Festival kicks off tomorrow and features a number of shows and masterclasses.

Dancers, both local and from across Canada will be performing.

Marketing coordinator of the festival, Mitch Thibault says Moncton dancer Francois Richard will be featured on opening day tomorrow.

“He will be performing the main event of that show, so a longer piece. We’re very excited to have him here, for him to come back into his community and showcase his art professionally,” says Thibault.

Local dance group, DansEncorps will also be performing throughout the festival.

Next Wednesday, enjoy a free show by Simon Reneau in the Blue Cross Atrium at 12:15.

Thibault says Reneau will also be teaching a masterclass on contemporary dance.

“And then we have another workshop. [A team from Montreal] will be offering a partnering masterclass, so if you’re into theater, performance or even if you’re less of a dancer this is a chance to discover some partnering, contact and do that work,” says

Masterclasses cost 25 dollars but most of the shows are free.

This year, they partnered with the Congrès Mondial Acadien 2019.

“Those big event are very music oriented and we really wanted to bring some dance into the festivities, and we have a lot of free events going on,” Thibault says.
