State Funeral For Lieutenant-Governor Held Today

A state funeral will be held today to celebrate the life of lieutenant-governor Jocelyne Roy Vienneau, who passed away last week from cancer.

Roy Vienneau was New Brunswick’s 31st lieutenant-governor, and also worked for many years at the NBCC Bathurst campus.

The service, which is open to the public, will be taking place at the Sainte-Thérèse-d’Avila Catholic Church at 11 AM in Robertville. It will also be broadcast live for those who can’t make it.

Members of the public who wish to express their sympathies can do so by signing a book on condolences, which will be set up at two locations in Fredericton.

Online condolences can be made as well.

Flags at all provincial government buildings have been placed at half-mast until sunset on the day of the funeral.
