UPDATE: Pine Street Home A Total Loss After Fire

A house fire on Pine Street is under investigation.

Moncton Fire Captain Randall Carter says when they arrived at around 6:30 this morning, the home was engulfed in flames.

He says they knocked the fire down quickly, but were on scene for almost four hours.

The building that was divided into upstairs and downstairs apartments, is a total loss.

The Canadian Red Cross is assisting a woman, man and three children from one unit. They says the woman received minor burns while escaping the blaze. They are assisting with emergency lodging, food, clothing purchases and other basics.

Residents from the other unit were not home at the time.

Captain Carter says they also managed to get three dogs out safely.

There is no word on a cause yet.
