Miramichi Apartment Tenants Allowed To Return Home After Fire

A temporary shelter in Miramichi has closed now that all tenants from an evacuated apartment building have been allowed to return home.

The Canadian Red Cross opened the shelter on July 20th after residents of a building at 5 Cole Crescent were forced out following a fire in one of the units.

Power to the building had to be disconnected and there was smoke damage.

The building owner met with the Fire Marshal on Monday who concluded all necessary repairs and inspections have been completed and tenants have moved back in.

The Red Cross says its volunteers are also heading home as well after working a combined 324 volunteer hours.
