Host Families Needed For International Students

Hundreds of international students will visit New Brunswick for the coming school year.

But efforts are underway to find places for them to live.

792 international students just finished the school year in the province, but Spokesperson for the New Brunswick International Student Program Marie Mourant says right now, they have 614 who are coming for next year, “We are not done processing applications yet, so we are really looking at having well over 800 students.”

Students come from a number of countries, “We have students who are coming from Vietnam, Germany, Columbia, China, Brazil and Spain,” Mourant says.

As a host family, you must have a room where the student can stay, and be able to include them in family events.

Students are between the ages of 11 and 17 years old..

“It will be a five to ten month commitment. But we also have a three month, or sometimes even an week period, so it gives host families an idea of whether they can commit,” Mourant says.
